View or Print out a File created by SpeedBMD or WinBMD

  1. Find the required file in the C:\SPEEDBMD or C:\Program Files\WinBMD\Output folder. Assuming you have followed the instructions, it will have a .SCA or .sca extension.
  2. Open Windows Notepad and select the file using the menu item File/Open.
Do not use any other program to view the file in it's text form or you risk corrupting the file. If you double click the file, Notepad may open automatically but if you have Norton Antivirus installed nothing will appear to happen. This is NOT a problem either for the file or Norton Antivirus activity. Just use the method specified above to view the file.
  3. You can then print it or amend as you want. Until you are familiar with the structure of the files you create do not make any changes to the files outside of the original transcription software.
  4. Note that if you do open the file using Notepad or another text editor you must save the file retaining the .sca extension. Do not save it as a text file. This will add .txt to the end of the filename.
