SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Deaths March 1857

A special case applies regarding the four added digits that complete the March 1857 Death transcriptions filenames.

Where the scan is taken from the "A-F" group, the letter(s) in the centre of the scan filename will read "A" to "F", and no special action is required. Use the group of four numbers at the end of the scan filename without adjustment.

Where the scan is taken from the "F-G" group, the letter(s) in the centre of the scan filename will read "F" to "G", and the first number of the group of four should be increased by 1 thus "0111" would be come "1111".

Where the scan is taken from the "H-M" group, the letter(s) in the centre of the scan filename will read "H" to"M", and the first number of the group of four should be increased by 2 thus "0111" would be come "2111".

Where the scan is taken from the "M-W" group, the letter(s) in the centre of the scan filename will read "M" to"W", and the first number of the group of four should be increased by 3 thus "0111" would be come "3111".

Where the scan is taken from the "W-Z" group, the letter(s) in the centre of the scan filename will read "W" to"Z", and the first number of the group of four should be increased by 5 thus "0111" would be come "5111".

This is necessary because there is insufficient space within the file name to differentiate between the groups "A-F" , "F-G" , "H-M" , "M-W" and  "W-Z".
