SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Marriages December 1861

A special case applies regarding  the four added digits that complete the June 1861 marriage transcription filenames.

Where the letters in the centre of the scan filename reads  A to C , no special action is required. Use the group of four numbers at the end of the scan filename without adjustment.

Where the letters in the centre of the scan filename name reads D to G, the first number of the group of four should be increased by 1 thus "0111" would become "1111".

Where the letters in the centre of the scan filename reads H to L, the first number of the group of four should be increased by 2 thus "0111" would become "2111".

Where the letters in the centre of the scan filename reads M to R, the first number of the group of four should be increased by 3 thus "0111" would become "3111".

Where the letters in the centre of the scan filename reads S to Z the first number of the group of four should be increased by 4 thus "0111" would become "4111".

This is necessary because there is insufficient space within the file name to differentiate between the various groups of scans within the overall batch
