SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Marriages December 1845

Most of the 1845 marriages have been filmed with two pages to each scan. Each column is a separate page. Both pages should be transcribed to a single file but it is necessary to add a +PAGE,nnnn entry at the end of the first page (column) and at the end of the second. The numbers follow the usual pattern. i.e. at the end of the first page the number is one higher that that at the start and the number at the end of the file is one higher again.

If the scan shows a single page (column), transcribe it in the usual way with the transcribed file having the single page.

A special case applies regarding  the four added digits that complete the 1845 Marriage transcription filenames.

Where the letters in the centre of the scan read "A" to "D", no special action is required. Use the group of four numbers at the end of the scan filename without adjustment.

Scans E to J are missing.

Where the letters in the centre of the scan name read "K" to "R", the first number of the group of four should be increased by 2 thus "0111" would be come "2111" .

Where the letters in the centre of the scan name read "S" to "Z" , the first number of the group of four should be increased by 3 thus "0111" would be come "3111".

This is necessary because there is insufficient space within the file name to differentiate between the various groups of scans within the overall batch
