Checks that I make on completed files

It is not possible for me to check for the accuracy of the data you have entered, I can only check that the file completed is the one allocated and that the structure is according to the rules as laid down by FreeBMD, supplemented by the rules detailed in this document.

The specific checks that I make using an automated process are:

  1. The filename is correct for the file allocated to the transcriber.
  2. If the filename needed adjustment, that it is correct taking into account the surnames being transcribed.
  3. That the Surnames have been capitilised.
  4. The the Volume number format is correct.
  5. That the Event is in line with the filename.
  6. That the Year, Quarter and Source have been correctly entered.
  7. The initial +PAGE,nnnn entry is in line with the filename.
  8. In the case of the 1866 and 1888 scans, that the full stops have been added after the forenames.
  9. That no double asterisks exist.
  10. That no question marks are used unless confirmed as appropriate by a visual check.
  11. That the last +PAGE,nnnn entry has been added correctly.
